379 Days
07.08.05 (5:02 pm) [edit]
It has been three hundred and seventy nine days since my life changed completely. I create personal transformation every now and again. But my life changed, utterly and forever when Noakai Yasui Aronesty was born.
He reluctantly detached from my soulbody and shuddered from my womb at 4:21am on June 24, 2004.
Today, he is walking. Enjoys playing the harmonica. Likes to shake his head vigorously 'no'. Points at everything. Calls everything 'guenk' or sometimes 'geunk'. Dances with both arms waiving around while walking in circles. Curls up into a little "C" when he breastfeeds, and turns into a large "X" when he falls asleep. Wants to do everything on his own. Loves playing with balls, rolling them and crawling or walking after them, over and over. Eats a fresh orange every evening. Loves yogurt at noon. Tries to grab at the water falling from the shower. Listens to birds outside the window. Grins ear to ear everytime he sees a dog, waits for the dog to kiss him on his face. Smiles coyly at pretty girls. Sits in the laps of people he likes. Crawls on our heads to wake us up in the morning. Grabs at his sling when he wants to go for a walk. Falls asleep holding a cracker in his stroller. Tries to brush his teeth with his own toothbrush. Has a job rearranging the tea boxes in our cabinet. Likes to ring the feng shui bell in our living room. Likes watching basketball at the playground. Loves sitting under homemade sheet-tents in the morning. Enjoys 'flying in the sky' and 'feet to feet' and 'Chochi Chochi' and 'this little piggy'. Does not like diaper changes, tries to escape when we are trying to put a clean diaper on. Plays with his alphabet magnets everyday. Presses the button in the elevator for our floor (4). Likes reading his books and being read to. Falls asleep to 'Dreamland" everynight since he was born. He most relaxed when both mom and dad are around. Is happiest when he has lots of family around, aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins, grandparents, step-grandparents, great-grandparents. Makes lots of people on the street smile when they see him.
Noakai you are like waking up into the best dream and then living it.

Hip Mama in Hawaii
07.06.05 (5:06 pm) [edit]
Ever since reading the "The Mother Trip: Hip Mama's Guide to Staying Sane in the Chaos of Motherhood" by Ariel Gore, I've enjoyed reading Ariel's blog once in a while.
I discovered from a recent post "The Pineapple Diet" which she wrote from Hawaii that they were in Honolulu, eating alot of pineapple in Waikiki.
This spiritual mama needs some Aloha I thought, so I emailed Ariel and my mom. They met the next day when Lari picked them up in Waikiki, then took them to Sunset Beach, they saw Sea Turtles and ate shave ice before having to fly back to Portland.
It's poetic that I met her writing because I was a new mama reading her mama wisdom; then she and her daughter chilled out with my mom. Community of mama love, circle, cycle.
(See "The Benefits of Blogging".)
XOXO
